Crafting Legacies Through Story
You've got a story worth telling and, most likely, need help telling it - that's exactly where I come in. I help people who've lived remarkable lives turn everything in their head into a memoir they're proud of, without you having to write a word of it yourself.
I started out as a journalist, with a joint honours degree in Radio, Film and Television with Religious Studies, and early years spent at BBC Radio and Woman magazine before I moved into freelance, writing for the Daily Mail, The Sun, The Guardian and The Times, and magazines including Marie Claire, Woman and Woman's Own. Journalism took me to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Malawi, Canada and Greece, and taught me something I've never forgotten: everyone has a story, if you know how to listen for it.
I became a ghostwriter in 2008. Since then, I've ghostwritten Home From War - the memoir that carried HRH Prince William's first foreword in 2009 - and sat across the table from remarkable people across technology, engineering, hospitality, philanthropy, and entrepreneurship, helping them tell their stories. My clients are based all over the world — I work with people wherever they are, in person or by video call, not just here in the UK.
For me, this work has always been about L'dor V'dor - Hebrew for "from generation to generation" - the idea that what we know, and who we are, is meant to be carried forward, not lost.
Many of my clients choose to remain unnamed. As I'm sure you appreciate, confidentiality and trust are what make this work possible in the first place.
How I Work With You
I Start By Understanding You
In-depth conversations to understand not just your story, but the legacy you want to create.
I Capture Your Voice
Through careful interviewing and listening, your memoir sounds unmistakably like you, not like me.
I Honour Your Discretion
The same commitment to confidentiality and craft whether your book stays in the family or reaches a shelf.
When I'm Not Writing
I'm from Whitstable on the north Kent coast, which is where I live now, but I have also lived on New York's Upper West Side and in London.
You'll usually find me at the ballet or the theatre, lost in a book, planning my next trip, or walking with my dogs along the Kent coast.
I think all of it - the travel especially - feeds into my work. The more you've looked at the world, the closer you can listen to one person's place in it.
